About the city of Marbella

From a small fishing village to one of the most famous and luxurious resorts of the Costa del Sol. Marbella is around 30/45 minutes drive from Málaga and is one of the popular places in the Andalusia region. Marbella is known for the beautiful beaches, the luxury port of Puerto Banús and the large amount of golf courses.

In Marbella nobody will ever be bored. The old part of the city is already a sight in itself, where there is plenty to do both during the day and in the evening. The terraces of Patio de los Naranjos are filled as standard, after which everyone moves to the bars and clubs later in the evening.

But the old part and the bars and clubs are not the only thing to do ...

Whether you like culture, entertainment, shopping or nature, Marbella has it all. There are museums, cinemas, parks and gardens, and much more.

The following places are also nice to visit:

  • The white historic church "The Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz"
  • The white church "Ermita del Calvario"
  • The Bonsai Museum: In this museum you can admire the best Bonsai trees and olive trees in Europe.
  • Museo Ralli: This is a small-scale museum with a lot of art from South America.
  • Villa Romana de Rio Verde: Beautiful Roman villa which is protected as BIC (property of cultural interest). It is an archaeological zone.
  • Termas Romanas de Guadalmina: Here you can admire Roman excavations.
  • Basilica paleocristiana de Vega del Mar: This is one of the North African churches that were built during the 6th century. It is located near the mouth of the Guadalmina river.
  • Pecho Redondo Caves
  • Nagüeles Caves
  • Bajadilla beach
  • Fuerte beach
  • Fontanilla beach: This beach is one of the most favorite beaches of both the inhabitants of Marbella and the holiday makers. It is the most centrally located beach; from the old center of Marbella it is a short and easy walk.
  • Miraflores Resort in La Cala de Mijas

The climate of Marbella

In Marbella it is sunny for a large part of the year. The average daily temperature calculated over a year there is 18.7 degrees Celsius. In the summer the mercury is between 21 and 28 degrees and in the winter between 15 and 18. This is partly due to the favorable location between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra de las Nieves mountain landscape. As a result, Marbella has its own microclimate, which means that the winters are relatively mild and the summer not extremely hot.
